A post-tensioned slab hides everything that matters. The tendons, their profile, the grout around them and the forces they carry are all sealed inside concrete the moment the pour is finished. Inspection and testing is how anyone finds out what is actually in there, whether that is a consultant releasing a pour, an owner investigating a crack, or a contractor about to core a hole through a slab they did not build.
We provide post tension inspection and testing services across the UAE: material testing, anchor inspection, load testing, post tension scanning to locate tendons in existing slabs, and support for third-party verification. Where Does Our Inspection and Testing Experience Come From?
Our inspection and testing experience comes from carrying it out as part of our own project scope on four buildings in Ajman, where cube testing, anchor inspection and quality control were contractual obligations we delivered and documented rather than services we bought in.
In Al Yasmeen, in the Eastern Sector, two adjacent G+M+4+R residential buildings. In Al Jurf, in the Northern Sector, a G+4+R residential building and an 11-level structure built as G+2P+8T+R with two parking floors. On the 11-level structure in particular, the inspection and testing record had to stay coherent across eleven floors and two different slab types, because a consultant reviewing floor nine will compare it against floor two.

Two residential buildings, Al Yasmeen
Roughly 4,200 and 4,300 square metres of post-tensioned slab, both G+M+4+R, with pre-pour inspection, cube testing and stressing verification carried out floor by floor.
An 11-level structure with parking, Al Jurf
About 9,340 square metres, G+2P+8T+R. Eleven levels of repeated inspection cycles, with the added complication that the parking floors and residential floors had different tendon layouts, so the inspection checklist was not identical from floor to floor.
A G+4+R residential building, Al Jurf
Roughly 3,570 square metres, with a more uniform inspection sequence.
220mm to 280mm slab thicknesses
Across these buildings slabs ran 220mm to 280mm thick with steel ratios between 55 and 80 kg per cubic metre, so the acceptance criteria differed building to building. Inspection against a generic checklist would have missed that.

What Can Post-Tension Inspection and Testing Actually Detect?
Eight checks, and each one answers a question a generic inspection would miss.
Post tension scanning, and why it matters before you drill
Scanning locates tendons inside an existing slab non-destructively. Drilling or coring into a post-tensioned slab without knowing where the tendons run can sever one under full load, which is a safety event, not a repair item. Anyone planning a penetration should scan first.
Pre-pour inspection
Before concrete is placed, tendon profile heights, chair spacing, anchor alignment, duct continuity and strand condition are verified against the drawings. This is the only moment when correcting an error is cheap.
Material testing
Verification of the strand, anchors and components against their certification, so what arrived is what was specified.
Cube testing and strength verification
Concrete strength governs when stressing may begin, so cube results are not a formality. They are the gate that determines whether a stressing operation is safe to carry out at all.
Stressing verification
Measured elongation against calculated elongation, tendon by tendon. This is the primary evidence that the design force actually reached the steel.
Anchor inspection
Anchorage zones carry the most concentrated force in the structure, and they are inspected before stressing and checked after lock-off.
Load testing
Where a structure's actual capacity needs demonstrating rather than calculating, typically on existing buildings, a change of use, or where records are missing.
Support for third-party verification
Where a consultant or authority requires independent verification, we prepare and present the documentation that process needs.

Why Do Consultants Ask Us to Verify Post-Tensioned Slabs?
Because a finding is only useful if it comes with an explanation. An inspector who has never installed a tendon can report that an elongation reading is 8 per cent short. Someone who has spent years threading strand through ducts can tell you what usually causes an 8 per cent shortfall at that location and what to check next. The measurement is the same. The value is not.
The second reason is documentation discipline. Consultants are not really buying an inspection, they are buying a defensible record. Ours are produced during the work, tied to specific tendons, floors and dates, and compiled into something that can be signed against rather than a set of notes reconstructed afterwards.
The third is scanning, which is increasingly the reason people call. Any alteration to an existing post-tensioned building starts with the question of where the tendons are, and getting that answer wrong has consequences no amount of care later can undo.

Visually there are clues, such as anchorage pockets at slab edges, but they can be made good and hidden. The reliable answer is scanning, which locates tendons non-destructively. If you are planning to drill, core or cut and you are not certain, treat the slab as post-tensioned until scanning proves otherwise.
Yes, and this is one of the most common reasons clients contact us about an existing building. Severing a tendon under load is a safety event, and it is entirely avoidable by scanning first.
Yes. For existing structures we start with scanning and a condition survey, then target testing based on what that survey shows, rather than applying a standard test list to a building we do not yet understand.
Typically the pre-pour inspection record, the cube results confirming stressing strength was reached, and the stressing report showing measured elongation against calculated elongation for each tendon. We prepare all three as the work happens.
